Report: iPad Loosens Kindle’s Foothold in eReader Market
By eBooks / IO, 01 Dec 2010
Amazon’s Kindle is the clear leader in the eReader market, but Apple’s iPad might just unseat the device, reports All Things D.
The iPad has doubled its share of the eReader market since August, said All Things D, citing figures provided to them by research firm ChangeWave.
32% of those surveyed by ChangeWave said they used the iPad as their eReader of choice, compared to 47% who prefer the Kindle. In August, the ChangeWave figures were wildly different: 62% for the Kindle and 16% for the iPad, reports All Things D.
And future buyers are also looking to the Apple tablet. 42% of those planning on buying an eReader within the next three months said they’d purchase an iPad while 33% said they’d rather get a Kindle.
“The Amazon Kindle is hanging on to a rapidly diminishing lead over the Apple iPad,” ChangeWave’s director of research Paul Carton told All Things D.
