‘Invasive’ Advertising Burns Image onto Retinas
An experimental BMW ad is the stuff of sci-fi dreams: to ‘burn’ an after-image of the automotive brand’s logo onto the retinas of unsuspecting audience members.
The ad was screened at a German cinema, where a cut-out of the letters “BMW” was placed directly in front a high-powered flash lighting unit. During the ad itself, the flash fired onto the audience, and when told to close their eyes at the end of the ad, they were left with the lingering after-image of the “BMW” letters at the back of their eyelids.
And far from crying out “lobotomy”, the audience members were impressed with the stunt, as the video above will show.
