36 times red dot: best of the best and 485 times red dot - only few hours are left until this year's award ceremony of the red dot award: product design will take place. Only few hours until numerous personalities from design and culture, industry and politics will meet to make the evening an inspiring event. At 16:00 the red dot design museum will open its doors for the special exhibitions "Design on stage - winners red dot award: product design 2006" and "LG - Digital Life Creator".

The day looks set to become one of the highlights of the international design scene. After the opening ceremony the award ceremony will be celebrated in the Aalto-Theater in Essen. It will be the climax of the evening when this year's "red dot: design team of the year" will be honoured. In the opinion of the high-class design experts of the jury the LG Corporate Design Center has deserved this distinction on account of its extraordinary design innovations. The laudation will be delivered by the legendary designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. Having created some of the most successful cars during the past 50 years he counts among the most influential designers of our time. With scenes of the ballet "Die roten Schuhe" (The red shoes) by Jochen Ulrich the aalto ballet theatre will provide the cultural framework.

Finale will be the designers' night in the red dot design museum where the award winners will party and be celebrated until late in the night.
