Verizon to Start Selling iPhones 10 February
Come 10 February, Verizon Wireless customers can finally get their hands on Apple’s iPhone after a three-and-a-half year wait, during which the device was available exclusively to AT&T.

Verizon announced it would be offering the iPhone 4 to its 93 million customers at the same price as rivals AT&T. Existing Verizon customers can preorder the phone on 3 February.

“Verizon Wireless customers have told us they can’t wait to get their hands on iPhone 4, and we think they are going to love it,” said Apple COO Tim Cook in a statement.

The Verizon iPhone is not the same as the one AT&T offers. There are some small changes to the metal antenna and uses CDMA technology rather than the GSM technology AT&T favors, according to The New York Times. But in all other respects, the phone will “function much the same”, the paper said.

Some analysts are bullish on how customers will respond to this development. They expect Verizon to sell nine to 13 million units this year, according to Reuters. In comparison, AT&T sold 15 million iPhones last year.

And already, the taunting from AT&T has begun.

“I’m not sure iPhone users are ready for life in the slow lane,” an AT&T spokesperson said in a statement.
