Confession App Cannot Replace Real Thing, Vatican Says
The iPhone app that allows Catholics to perform confessionals on their phones cannot be used as a substitute for the real thing, reports The New York Times, citing a Vatican statement.
“One cannot speak in any way of ‘confession by iPhone’,” Vatican spokesperson Rev. Federico Lombardi told the Times.
Confession: A Roman Catholic App, developed by Little iApps, is meant for Catholics to use as preparation for the sacrament but is not a ‘virtual priest’, the Times said.
