WPP chief executive Sir Martin Sorrell said at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that he thinks mobile apps are “holy grail” for advertisers, reports the Telegraph.
“Apps are a classic example of this shift from broadcast to multifaceted engagement,” Sorrell was quoted as saying. “They enable brands to connect with consumers at numerous touchpoints, whether at home or in the shops.”
Sorrell in particular homed in on location-based apps. Such apps provide a “significant opportunity for retailers to open another virtual shop with the added benefit of it being in consumers’ pockets”, Sorrell was quoted as saying on Marketing Week.
Sorrell also added that WPP is encouraging its clients to “embrace mobile more aggressively”, reports the Telegraph.
