MLB Streams Games Live on Facebook

After Warner Bros. Studios decided to rent and stream a movie on Facebook, it seems like other companies have sat up and taken notice. Now, Major League Baseball (MLB) is allowing fans to stream games live on the social network.

The MLB started by streaming a pre-season game between the Dodgers and the Rangers for free, but users have to subscribe to watch in-season games. Prices start at US$99.99 a year for a season-long subscription.

Bob Bowman, CEO of MLB.com told All Things Digital the pre-game stream was an experiment to “test Facebook’s promotional power”. The tech website speculates the baseball league could keep running a single free game each day during the season.

However, Bowman said there are no plans to sell individual games or give subscribers full access to games on Facebook, reports All Things Digital.
