In Space, No One Can Hear You Scream—Unless You’re on YouTube

As the US prepares to bid farewell to a 30-year space shuttle program later today with the launch of the final mission, NASA is teaming up with YouTube, Twitter and the PBS News Hour to let space enthusiasts this 2 May ask the astronauts on the mission questions.

The commander of the space shuttle Endeavor’s final flight, Mark Kelley, and his crew will take questions from space via YouTube and Twitter, the responses of which will be broadcast live on the PBS News Hour YouTube channel.

You can submit questions either by uploading a video or text question on the News Hour channel or post a tweet with the hashtag #utalk2nasa.

“Don’t be shy,” YouTube public sector program manager Ginny Hunt said in a blog post. “f you’re most curious about how to prepare for a spacewalk or wondering if the astronauts have a speech prepared for an extra-terrestrial encounter, this is your chance to find out.”

Update: NASA has postponed the space flight due to technical issues, reports the AP.
