Nearly One-Third of All Display Ads in US Served on Facebook: comScore

Of the 1.1 trillion display ad impressions to eyeballs in the US in the first quarter of 2011, nearly one-third of them were delivered by Facebook, according to a comScore study released today.

This is almost double the number of impressions the social network served in the same period last year.

Yahoo!, Microsoft, AOL and Google sites came after Facebook, but the gap between the social network and second-placed Yahoo! is a wide one at more than 20 percentage points.

Overall, comScore noted a “large and vibrant” online ad market, calling the first quarter of this year “terrific”.

“And it’s not just about the volume but about the quality of the advertising experience that can be delivered as we see continued investment in compelling, high-quality creative that helps cultivate long-term brand equity,” comScore executive vice president Jeff Hackett said in a statement.
