China Blocks iPad Social Magazine Flipboard
The Chinese government has begun blocking local access to the social magazine iPad app Flipboard, CEO Mike McCue announced in a tweet.
Although no explicit reason has been given, All Things Digital speculates the ban is “consistent with China’s attitude” of blocking Facebook, Twitter and Flickr, three services Flipboard streams its content from.
McCue said in a tweet “lots of folks in China” had been using his product, although no further details were mentioned. The CEO also made a reference to the possibility of Chinese clones emerging from the ban.
“Meanwhile we’re all in debt to the Chinese govt,” he tweeted. “Where does it end?”
