CBS Launches Social News Show, ‘What’s Trending?’

CBS yesterday debuted an experimental online-only news program called What’s Trending, focusing on the memes and buzz-worthy content that make up most of the internet.

The show will be broadcast live from its Hollywood studio every Tuesday at 1pm ET. The first episode features Dancing With The Stars contestant Chelsea Kane and The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur, among others.

Complementing the show is a daily blog with content ranging from an interview alternative rapper Talib Kweli on his Twitter outburst and an announcement on the rebooted PlayStation Network.

“It’s not just a show with a social strategy added on to it—it’s powered by the community and social media,” host Shira Lazar told Lost Remote. “What’s Trending fills the gap as a broadcast show for the internet generation.”
