Apple, Samsung Win Awards for Displays
For their display technologies on mobile devices, both Apple and Samsung won Display of the Year Awards by the Society for Information Display.
Apple picked up two Gold Awards; one for the Retina display on the iPhone 4, and a Display Application of the Year Gold Award for the iPad.
“The iPhone 4 Retina display achieves a viewing angle superior to conventional mobile LCDs, providing an enhanced viewing experience for the end-user in virtually any application,” the society said in a statement.
Samsung on the other hand won two silvers, one for its Galaxy S smartphone and another for the AMOLED technology used in its displays.
