For his thesis, Dong Yoon Park, a Masters student at Parsons, built an iPad app designed to teach pros and novices alike the arcane world of typography.
Called Typography Insight, the app will purportedly help students “understand the form of historically important typefaces” like Garamond, Helvetica and Bodoni, Park wrote on his thesis website.
Where usually students have to rely on print material and fixed sizes to view typographic samples, Park is hoping his app with its ability to zoom into and manipulate fonts, will provide a more efficient alternative.
