Twitter’s TweetDeck Acquisition Meant for Power Users, Not Mainstream
Twitter’s US$40 million acquisition of the client TweetDeck is aimed at making the social network more appealing to power users: the brands, publishers and marketers, Twitter said in a blog post.
“TweetDeck provides [these users] with a powerful platform to track all the real-time conversations they care about,” Twitter wrote. “In order to support this important constituency, we will continue to invest in the TweetDeck that users know and love.”
Calling its power users “incredibly important”, Twitter said it will continue to invest in TweetDeck to meet the needs of those users. As such, TweetDeck founder Iain Dodsworth and his team will be continuing their efforts.
“We remain the same team, staying in London, with the same focus and products, and now with the support and resources to allow us to grow and take on even bigger challenges,” Dodsworth wrote.
