Twitter to Launch its Own Photo Service: TechCrunch
Twitter will soon unveil its own photo-sharing feature to compete with the Twitpics and Yfrogs currently offering those services, reports TechCrunch, citing multiple sources.
TechCrunch’s Alexia Tsotsis said it is still unclear as to the details of the new service, but Twitter could launch it as early as tomorrow.
“Photo-sharing is the next logical step of Twitter expanding its in-app experience,” Tsotsis wrote. “It’s basically grabbing at low-hanging fruit.”
Currently, users host their photos on third-party websites, and Twitter clients will have to fetch from those websites. Having its own service could make Twitter run smoother, All Things Digital writer Liz Gannes speculates.
