Hotel Company Hopes Online Game Will Attract New Employees

Hotel group Marriott International is hoping a game it created, in which players have to manage a restaurant, will be more than just casual entertainment and attract potential employees, reports The Wall Street Journal.
“My Marriott Hotel” puts players in a fast-paced restaurant, where they have to manage cooking food, buying ingredients and maintaining kitchen equipment, according to the Journal.
The game will be debuted on Facebook and will give players a glimpse into a “very intriguing business”, the company’s executive vice president for global human resources David Rodriguez told the Journal.
There are about 50,000 hotel positions open this year, mostly in India and China, that Marriott hopes its game will fill.
However, the game is purely a marketing tool and doesn’t have the capability to assess players on how well they will suit the real life challenges of the hospitality trade, according to the Journal.
