The university recently delayed the start of construction for a year because fund-raising has been so sluggish.
It needs to raise about $70 million, but so far, it's only collected about $43,000 toward the project.
The building's design is largely ready.
It'll be a modern structure with free-form design, silver roofs and interesting shapes to link UConn's campus with another planned project across the street.
UConn set aside $20 million from its campuswide improvement program to pay for the first phase of the new arts complex. But it has to figure out where to find the remaining $70 million.
School officials are trying to woo potential donors, even offering the chance to have parts of the complex named in their honor if they pony up with a big financial gift.
