A Foursquare app called World of Fourcraft pairs the location-based social network’s check-ins with Google Maps to turn New York City into a life-sized version of the classic board game Risk.

To begin playing, users first have to pick a ‘team’: any one of New York’s five boroughs. Players then can start checking-into any neighborhood in the city to claim the territory. An algorithm decides if the neighborhood is successfully conquered based on the number of players from each team who have checked-into the same area, reports Mashable.

And like the board game, there are no prizes for winning. "The only reward is the feeling of pride you normally only get from being retweeted," the rules of the game read.

World of Fourcraft was developed during the recently-concluded Game Hack Day NYC.
