‘Boardwalk Empire’ Brings Vintage Subways Back to NYC

HBO is working with New York’s Metropolitan Transport Authority (MTA) to roll out Prohibition-era subway cars in anticipation of the second season of Boardwalk Empire, a drama set in 1920s Atlantic City.

The vintage cars will run in Manhattan on weekends in September, and will feature images of the TV show and period-appropriate paraphernalia. According to The Wall Street Journal, HBO paid the MTA US$150,000 to run the large-scale advertisement.
