The first full-blown museum exhibition on Jonathan Ive’s tenure at Apple is currently ongoing at the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Hamburg, Germany.
Titled Stylectrical: From Electrical Design That Has Made History, the exhibition will focus on Ive’s designs since he became senior vice president of industrial design at Apple in 1997. Ive’s designs will be critiqued at in a cultural studies context, the museum said.
“The exhibition traces the in-house design development of [Apple] and allows the example of this popular design with a comprehensive insight into scientific issues related to design history,” the museum said.
A companion book to the exhibition called Apple Design is also in the works and is set for release in November.
In addition to Ive, other designers whose works will be displayed include Dieter Rams, Herbert Hirche, Hans Gugelot, Peter Raacke and Tobias Grau.
