A Phone Made Of Solid Gold
By Anthea Quay, 15 Sep 2011
Danish retailer Aesir has created a phone made of solid gold.
Besides the basic call and messaging functions, the Æ+Y phone does not have any extra applications or features, such as: email, internet, camera, games and GPS navigation.
The company took three years to develop the limited-edition 18-carat gold, and hopes to sell it at US$57,400 as a “collector’s item”.
“People are used to collecting, say, watches, while designer phones is a practically empty niche," Thomas Jensen, Aesir founder, told Reuters.
Its target clientele are ultra-wealthy elites who have people to manage their schedules and drive them around.
