Japan-based fashion design and art student Masamitsu Kimura created delicate apparel using ancient Japanese paper.
Kimura used Mino Washi, a type of washi paper indigenous to his hometown Gifu, and merged an ancient Japanese craft with contemporary western fashion.
“Washi is simply an eloquent and masterful form of fabric,” he said.
His masterpieces turned out to appear fragile and haunting.
Kimura was nominated for the 2011 Mitsubishi Junior Designer Award.
