Shape Type: A Game For Font-Fanatics
By Anthea Quay, 31 Oct 2011
Interactive designer, and maker of Kern Type, Mark MacKay created an interactive typographic letter-shaping game.
Shape Type is a 10-stage game that presents its users misshaped characters from specific typefaces—with font names and fonts’ designers provided—encouraging them to adjust multiple bezier handles to get the shape of the character right.
When users are done adjusting, they can submit their results, and visually-compare how close to the original character they were—the score is a percentage based on the similarities.
The game can also be played on iPhones and iPads, as it is made using HTML5.
