Infographic: Should We Get Into the Siesta Culture?

National Napping Day is on 14 March and was first observed in 1999.

An infographic by Patio Productions looks at the science and statistics of naps.

Naps more than two-minutes long have shown to reinvigorate your mind and body.

Most mammals sleep for short periods throughout the day, but humans are the only mammals that have consolidated their sleep into one long period.

If you’re wondering why many experience post-lunch sleepiness, it’s because our bodies are actually programmed for two periods of intense sleepiness: 2-4AM and 1-3PM.

The infographic also says, “siesta cultures have a lower rate of coronary heart disease (CHD).”

So should all companies jump on the siesta-bandwagon and incorporate “nap-time” as a compulsory activity?
