Microwave Oven Plays YouTube Videos, Sends Text when Food is Cooked

If you’re sick of watching your food while it cooks and goes merry-go-round, University of Pennsylvania students have hacked a microwave oven so it plays YouTube videos instead.

μWave has a tablet in place of the screen, which fetches random YouTube videos that are of the same duration as your food’s cook time.

The hacked microwave would also tweet users that have visited, and send texts to its users when their food is done cooking.

The μWave won first place in the PennApps hackathon 2011.
