In Manhattan, A Window Display Made Entirely Of Hair

Stephen Heyman for the New York Times has reported that: Manhattan department store Barneys has unveiled a holiday window display that’s made entirely of hair.

The window display, Gaga’s “boudoir”—made of both human hair and artificial hair used for wigs—was designed by Lady Gaga and her fashion director, Nicole Formichetti.

The bald man’s fantasy features a chaise, a vanity desk, and a mannequin of the songstress herself—every single thing made of hair.

“Basically, Lady Gaga and [Formichetti] had a dream of making her boudoir, with her in it, and every single thing in the window had to be made out of hair,” Dennis Freedman Barneys’ creative director, who collaborated with Lady Gaga and her fashion director to produce the window display, said.

“So I approached an extraordinary and unique hair stylist/artist named Bob Recine.”

“Formichetti first drew a sketch of a room that shows a day bed with Lady Gaga lying down on it, surrounded by a cabinet, mirror and chair.”

“From that, [Recine] went mad and literally created a room out of hair that is truly a work of art… Whether it’s synthetic or human, there is nothing in that window that is not meant to be worn as a wig.”

Were you expecting something ‘more normal’ from Lady Gaga?
