New York artist Molly Rausch has created postage stamp artwork that tells stories beyond their borders.
Rausch imagines scenes and paints them outside the edges of postage stamps using watercolor and goucache.
According to her website, Rausch starts by gluing down each stamp to paper and then paints around it.
The paintings, measuring just around 3 inches tall is “done freehand with a brush; she does not use pens or pencils. She does not paint on the stamp itself”.
Rausch also states that her “the extension is completely invented and should not be tested for accuracy”.
