American photographer Lilly McElroy’s self-portraits series titled ‘I Throw Myself At Men’ has her doing exactly that.
McElroy first placed ads on Craiglist asking for blind dates who would be willing to participate in her social experiments of sorts.
Upon meeting the men, she literally throws herself at them—as an attempt to document the awkwardness of human contact in the midst of confusion and surprise.
According to McElroy, “[she] used [her] body as a projectile, hurling [herself] toward strong, vulnerable men who were waiting to catch [her]”.
Through her photographs, McElroy aims to “pose questions concerning relationships, social connection, sex, gender, and the desire to form relationships quickly that are both intense and long lasting”.
Well, awkward or not, at least the men did catch her when she fell for (‘on’, rather) them.
