Peruvian artist Cecilia Paredes’ latest work has her disappear into backgrounds—not through magic but with paint.
Using an array of make-up, body paint and costumes, Paredes blends herself seamlessly into intricate backgrounds and then photographs herself.
Being “part of the landscape” is Paredes’ way of exploring how one has to “adjust in order to belong” after displacement and migration.
One of her works titled Meditative Mermaid will be exhibited at the 2012 LA Art Show on through Jan. 22.
