Infographic: 'The Sharing Avalanche' of Social Media
An infographic created by Plastick Media and Voltier Digital has put into perspective the phenomenon of online sharing in today’s social media era.
‘The Sharing Avalanche’ charts the rise in the amount of information being shared and indeed, the numbers are staggering.
According to the infographic, people spend almost a quarter of their time online on social media sites with as many as 250 million photos uploaded to Facebook every day.
And if Facebook were a country, it would be the third largest country in population numbers, behind India and China, and is set to overtake the latter in 3-5 years.
However, the infographic also notes that only half of Facebook users log in each day and just 47% Twitter accounts are active.
More importantly, the illustration highlights that social media will continue to grow, especially among businesses.
This is in part due to it having evolved from a one-way service to a two-way conversation.
Thanks to social media, our ability to engage brands, politicians and news organizations has manifold—in a way that was not possible before.
