Russian biologist Alexander Semenov has captured extraordinary shots of jellyfish in their natural environment while at work.
Semenov, who graduated in 2007 from Moscow State University with a specilialization in the study of invertebrate animals—squid brains, to be specific—first ventured into sea life photography for “fun”.
It has taken the chief diver at White Sea Biological Station four years to get to where he is.
“After two or three months of failure after failure, I ended up with a few good pictures, which inspired me to buy a semi-professional camera complete with underwater housing and strobes,” says Semenov.
