Giant coffee chain Starbucks has opened a store in Tukwila, Washington built entirely out of four reclaimed shipping containers.
Designed by their in-house architects, the coffee shop signifies Starbuck’s jump onto the green bandwagon as an effort to reduce energy use and employ environmental design.
The container drive-thru’s inspiration came from the company’s use of the containers to ship their coffee and tee from all around the world.
Measuring at the standard 448 square feet, it can fit three baristas at any one time.
While this is the very first of its kind, it may well serve as a prototype for future retail locations.
