Using only red paint and a basketball, Shanghai-based artist Hong Yi painted a detailed portrait of ex-NBA superstar Yao Ming, who recently retired from the Houston Rockets.
Hong—who also goes by the nickname ‘Red’—decided that a basketball was a more appropriate instrument than a brush.
“I guess all those years of basketball training in high school did come in handy!” she wrote.
Hong was also responsible for creating a portrait of artist Ai Weiwei out of 100,000 (7kg worth) sunflower seeds.
