Artist Builds A Home Using Shredded 1.4 Billion Euros

Irish artist Frank Buckley has built a home from the shredded remains of 1.4 billion euros ($1.82 billion).

Using bricks of shredded euro notes that he borrowed from Ireland’s national mint, Buckley set about building the aparment at a lobby of a vacant Dublin office building.

According to Buckley, he built the home to symbolize the “madness” that has been brought upon the Irish economy by the currency.

“People were pouring billions into buildings now worth nothing,” he said. “I wanted to create something from nothing.”

Buckley who now lives in his "billion euro home" since the start of December, is now working on adding a kitchen to the living room and hall.

The house is covered in euro shreddings from the top to bottom and is so warm Buckley sleeps without a blanket.

"Whatever you say about the euro, it's a great insulator."
