Photographer Recreates Star Wars In Post-Apocalyptic Modern World

French photographer Cédric Delsaux has recreated Star Wars scenes against the backdrop of urban wasteland.

In his series ‘The Dark Lens’, Delsaux first set out to highlight the decay of the post-apocalyptic modern world, but found the landscapes too plain.

That was when he incorporated notable scenes and characters from Star Wars, with the help of CGI maestro Pierrick Gueneugue, bringing to life two distant worlds.

Silver androids resting against a Chevy truck, R2D2 standing alone beside a dissambled helicopter in what look like a repair shop, Jabba the Hut lurking in an abandoned warehouse—is this how it would be like if Star Wars characters existed in our world?

Delsaux photographs have been compiled in a book available at ARTBOOK | D.A.P. online store.

It includes an introduction by none other than George Lucas himself:

“Over the years, many artists have interpreted Star Wars in ways that extend well beyond anything we saw in the films. One of the most unique and intriguing interpretations that I have seen is in the work of Cédric Delsaux, who has cleverly integrated Star Wars characters and vehicles into stark urban, industrial—but unmistakably earthbound environments. As novel and disruptive as his images are, they are also completely possible".
