Foursquare Soon to Offer Special Discounts
By Anthea Quay, 15 Jul 2011
The location-based app, Foursquare, has partnered with companies to bring their 10 million users daily deals.
The company will be passing out coupon deals as a new part of their ‘Specials’. Deal discounts from: LivingSocial, Gilt City, zozi, BuyWithMe and AT&T Interactive (from Yellow Pages), can be bought from the Foursquare App.
Specials such as Starwood Reward Points, and American Express ‘load to card’ seamless redemptions are also available on the app.
The Specials are also personalized to the user. Deals would be run through the ‘Explore’ tab—as a result, locations of friends of the user would be used to determine the type of deals preferred.
This joint venture between Foursquare and marketing companies was a plan to monetize Foursquare’s service; the company will take a piece of the revenue made from the deals that it sells.
Daily deals would be available in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and can be bought only on a Blackberry, Android, or iPhone
