Australian photographer Mark Tipple has captured swimmers moving beneath waves and struggling through clouds of foam and rough waters.

Titled ‘The Underwater Project’, the surreal images are shot from a grounded position on the ocean floor.

Tipple wanted to document Australians’ intrinsic relationship with the ocean through his work, which has also been published in a limited edition handmade book.
