US government agency National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has announced that it would be handing out iPhones and iPads to its employees in May this year—replacing BlackBerry devices currently in use.
“Times are changing and technology is changing and we have to look at our technologies and see how we can do things more efficiently,” Joe Klimavicz, NOAA’s chief information officer, told Bloomberg.
Klimavicz also said that it would “cost the agency less to securely integrate Apple devices into its information systems than RIM’s products”, according to Digital Trends.
The companies Credit Suisse, Barclays Capital, and Standard Chartered have also moved towards the iPhones and Android devices, instead of BlackBerry phones.
Oil giant Halliburton also previously announced that it would be choosing the iPhone over the BlackBerry.
