Using An Infographic, Man Proposes To Woman
Using an infographic, associate editor of D: AllThingsDigital Drake Martinet proposed to Mashable’s vice president of marketing and communications Stacy Green.
To prove that they are “soulmates”, Martinet uses calculated data to get to the core of the possibilities that they were meant to be together.
“I didn’t realize how rare that fit actually is—not until I ran the numbers, at least. Some of the infographic math is super-factual, some just good fun, but the truth underneath stands out just fine,” Martinet wrote.
According to the infographic, he could’ve met a total of 1,340,000 women, talked to them, and fallen in love with them in his lifetime.
But only 3% of people could keep him laughing, 2% are gorgeous on the inside and out, 6% love a huge geek, and 1% bring total joy to his life—which makes 0.48 women on earth as perfect as Green.
Martinet writes: “Stacy, you always say we are soulmates… the perfect match for each other. I always give some very unromantic response having to do with how many people there are on earth, and that it’s unlikely that we’d find better matches. I decided to have a deeper look at just how incredible my luck is for having you in my life.”
At the end of the infographic, he says, “Stacy, Your perfection is a statistical impossibility, and you’ve made this very logical man admit that miracles do happen. They must, and you are the only evidence I’ll ever need. I love you. Which leads me to my final logical query: Stacy will you marry me?”
According to Mashable, she did say “yes”.
