French designer Philippe Starck has collaborated with car manufacturer Peugeot to produce the ‘Bike of the Future’—to replace the current bikes in the bike-sharing program of the city Bordeaux, France.
The new design will be a hybrid of a bicycle and scooter, will be durable, functional, and have lots of onboard storage.
It will have integrated foot-plates (standing platforms) in the center bottom of the frame, in front of the pedals, so that riders can more easily push start the bicycle.
According to Gizmag, the bike-scooter “will feature a lightweight aluminium frame… There’ll be brightly-colored wheels, hub-braking, and automatic, integrated LED lighting.”
In Bordeaux, 10% of the people’s daily trips are made on bike, according to Popsop.com, which is why “the city decided to further develop the eco-friendly vehicle”.
