Nike has unveiled the lightest running shoe, to date.
The Nike Flyknit Racer—part of the company’s HTM Flyknit collection—is made of yarns and fabrics that are “featherweight”, according to Nike.
The shoe’s upper and tongue weigh 34 grams (1.2 ounces). For a size 9 shoe, the whole shoe weighs 160g (5.6 ounces)—almost as light as an iPhone 4S.
Nike’s Flyknit Racer is also environmentally friendly, as one-piece upper uses only one material.
According to Nike, it is “one of the lightest, best-fitting running shoes”.
The Flyknit Racer comes in neon yellow, and will be available in July 2012, just before the London Olympics
