For Typography Geeks, A Periodic Table Of Typefaces
USA-based designer Cam Wilde of Squidspot created a Periodic Table for typeface junkies.
The ‘Periodic Table of Typefaces’ is “the style of all the thousands of over-sized Period Table of Elements posters hanging in schools and homes around the world,” according to Wilde.
The Periodic Table features 100 of the most popular, influential and notorious typefaces of today.
The table groups the typefaces into families and classes of: sans-serif, serif, script, blackletter, glyphic, display, grotesque, realist, didones, garalde, geometric, humanist, slab-serif and mixed.
Each cell also states the symbol of the typeface, the designer, the year it was designed, and the rank of the typeface—based on the rankings of various sites.
