New York: ‘24-Hour Cupcake Vending Machines’ Coming Soon
Lucy Blodgett of The Huffington Post gave a demonstration on how the world’s first cupcake vending machine, located in Beverly Hills, works.
In the back of the machine, 600 freshly-baked cupcakes are stored in individual boxes—cupcakes are constantly-restocked day and night, a few hundreds at a time.
The machine lets users choose from a wide variety of flavors, such as Red Velvet, Dark Chocolate, Vanilla, Chocolate Marshmallows, and Irish Chocolate.
When a cupcake is selected, the ATM gives the picture and description of the flavor.
When users confirm their purchase and swipe their card, the machine would show a live video of its robotic arm going to get the cupcake behind the scenes.
The cupcake is delivered to the user, neatly presented in a box.
According to The Huffington Post, New Yorkers will soon be able to get their cupcake cravings satiated anytime they want.
Three 24-hour cupcake vending machines, by LA-based dessert shop Sprinkles Cupcakes, will be opening in New York this year.
NBC New York reports that the exact locations of the ATMs are still unconfirmed at this point, but “the bakery plans to set them up in midtown, downtown and the Upper West Side”.
