Virgin Mobile Recreates Richard Branson’s Life Story
To promote Virgin Mobile’s new unlimited data and messaging plan, ‘A Higher Calling’, agency Mother NY created a spot that looks at Virgin’s founder Sir Richard Branson’s life story.
The faux autobiography ‘The Fantastic Tale of Young Branson’ features Branson, from when he was a toddler (already sporting his signature facial hair of a Van Dyke beard), to when he was a teenager, and up to the future—to show his “life-long quest to create a mobile phone company in 1960s London that answers to a Higher Calling”, the ad wrote.
Throughout his ‘life’, he’s been communicating how he has had ideas for cordless phones, and cheap limited data—but no one has believed him. Until now, when he has made it possible.
“This is Richard Branson and he is here to service you,” the ad says, and Branson himself floats around in his own spaceship.
