Google Maps Now Includes Real-Time Traffic Data
Google Maps now includes real-time traffic data to offer more accurate estimated travel times of your journeys, reports Mashable.
According to Google, traffic information "is constantly being refreshed to provide you with the most accurate, up-to-date estimate possible."
For now, the new feature is available in most major metropolitan areas. And with it, people, who usually factor in an extra 10 or 15 minutes prior to this change, will no longer have to do so.
Data is gathered through third-party services and through information from Android users who have opted in to the My Location feature on Google Maps.
The more people that opt into the service in the area, the better the availability of traffic information.
This comes days after Google released its new Google Map 6.5 for Android that lets users swipe back and forth to select recent or favorite destinations.
