To Get Into Cannes Lions Academy, Ad Guy Creates His F*ck-It List
For DDB Toronto copywriter Daniel Bonder who turns 29 this summer, there was nothing more that he wanted except to gain entry into the first-ever Young Lions Creative Academy.
While contemplating his upcoming birthday, Bonder then decided to create a list of things people can only do when they are young and stupid, called ‘The F*ck-It List’.
He then translated it into a video for acceptance into the festival. Directed by Jon & Torey of Toronto’s FamilyStyle, the video was shot over “two slightly drunken days” and almost led to Bonder’s arrest at one point.
The video shows Bonder crossing out the things on his list includes including farting in public, getting a dolphin tattoo and doing graffiti.
“All alcohol consumed and karaoke sang was real. The sexual acts were not,” says Bonder.
At the end of the video, Bonder says that he needs to cross off one last thing—the Young Lions Creative Academy.
Last Thursday, Bonder’s application got accepted. A happy Bonder says, “I love that [advertising] is an industry where crazy ideas like this aren’t just accepted but applauded.”
