Artist Uses Banana Skins As Canvases

Using banana skins as canvases, multimedia artist Phil Hansen recreates famous works on the fruit with a push pin.

In his project ‘Tattoo A Banana’, some of art history’s most famous works—such as The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo, Birth of Venus by Andro Botticelli, and Edgar Degas’ dancers—get tattooed onto the banana—before the fruit naturally turns brown and disappears.

Hansen’s work is part of his book Tattoo a Banana: And Other Ways to Turn Anything and Everything Into Art that will soon be available on Amazon.
