A Dress Made Of Film Slides That ‘Turns On’ When It Gets Dark
Designer Emily Steel has created an unconventional dress that ‘turns on’ whenever the lights go down.
Made from a series of film slides backed with LEDs—Steel’s ‘Little Slide Dress’ is able to detect ambiance lights through a light sensor that is connected to an Arduino Lilypad.
When it is too bright, the LEDs will be off and the dress will appear normal with a shiny gloss—giving subtle hints of its true appearance.
However, whenever it gets dark, the LEDs will turn on and start to pulse—revealing a slide show of images.
According to Steel, she said that the dress was inspired from classic movies and the “magic of film” to create a wearable piece of technology and art.
