In light of the phone-hacking scandal Rupert Murdoch is currently embroiled in, an unnamed developer created two Firefox add-ons meant to alert users when they’re reading news owned by the media mogul.
Murdoch Alert will show a warning bar on Firefox once users stumble onto any website owned by the Murdoch family, which include The Wall Street Journal, FOX, Sky and countless others.
A second add-on, for Chrome, is even more heavy-handed. '>Murdoch Block will issue an alert to users that they are about to tread on Murdoch territory, and offers them one last chance to turn away.
In the release notes, the developer wrote: “Install this app if you want to estimate News Corp’s influence on your internet life, install it to make a statement to the Murdoch empire or install it because you’ve just had enough lies.”
