QR Codes Incorporated Into The Paintings Of Carnivorous Plants

Yiying Lu, the artist behind Twitter’s “Fail Whale” is back—this time with a painted series of dangerous carnivorous plants with QR codes incorporated into them.

In her project titled “Beautiful Traps”, Lu intricately hand paints QR codes into her artworks of women wearing carnivorous plants as hats.

Scanning the QR codes with a mobile device will bring up a video of the painting process—highlighting the intricacy and techniques used by Lu to paint the artworks.

Lu has previously worked with QR codes in her fashion illustrations that were featured in US fashion and culture magazine, Meets Obsession.

Will incorporating QR codes into their artworks be a new way for artists to connect with their audience?
